Policy Statements

The NAEMSP Policy Statements advance a multifaceted approach to EMS quality and workforce development. The Joint Position Statement on EMS Performance Measures Beyond Response Times critiques traditional metrics, such as response time, advocating for a more comprehensive system that includes clinical outcomes, patient experience, safety, and equity. It encourages EMS systems to use a broad set of performance indicators, including: effectiveness, safety, satisfaction, and efficiency, to assess care quality. The Position Statement on Creating an Equitable, Inclusive, and Diverse EMS Workforce addresses systemic racism and health inequities within EMS.
